Wataniya bitumen refinery
In the following, we first tend to brighten your vision regarding the
bitumen production, refinery procedures, and the general classification of this black gold, bitumen. Generally speaking, they produced petroleum bitumens
from three processes of direct extraction (Straight Run), aeration (Air Blowing) and mixing (Blending). Now, let’s review them briefly.
Bitumen processes in the refinery
Air Blowing process
When the residual cut of the distillation tower in
vacuum (VB) of the refinery does not have the same characteristics of bitumen,
so in this case, VB is transferred to the bitumen unit as the first month and
by aeration process in the reactor with oxidation reactions, dehydration
And polymerization and is produced by controlling the operating parameters
of bitumen with different grades. In fact, they do this process in two ways, continuous (Continues Process) and discontinuous (Batch Process).
Straight Run process
When the cutting characteristics of the distillation
tower residue in the refinery vacuum are like the bitumen characteristics,
they received a cutting process called bitumen as the final product.
Blending process
In simple words, it is a process of mixing original cuts
of petroleum products (with optimal formulation), achieving the standard specifications of bitumen.

Wataniya bitumen classifications
Roughly speaking, there are two main types of bitumen used in road construction: if bitumen is from a mine, it is a type of natural or mineral bitumen,
and if we obtain it from refining crude oil, the product would be petroleum bitumen. It is also worth noting that they should use petroleum bitumen in
road construction. In other words, they can only use natural bitumen as a modifier of petroleum bitumen in combination with petroleum bitumen.
